Is Becoming an American Citizen Important to You

Saturday, August 13th, 2011 | US Citizenship 101 | Comments Off

There are many things you might consider if you are thinking about becoming an American citizen.  Many people try for years to come to the states only to find it is not all they thought it would be.  Many of the things you should consider include medical care, taxes, and the cost of living.

Many people spend years trying to get their US Green Card through USCIS.  They pay large amounts of money for Green Card renewal on a periodic basis only to find problems with being a citizen.  You may not really want to be a citizen of the United States once you realize how it really is.

The medical care in the US is all about money.  If you or your child needs an organ transplant and you do not have medical insurance, it will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and most likely you will never get on the list.  Hospitals rush patients out before they are ready to go home because insurance companies want to pay as little as possible.  The cost of medical insurance is outrageous and possibly too expensive for you to afford each month.  If you are a diabetic or you have high blood pressure and your body requires medication on a daily basis for survival, the costs of the medication are so expensive, many people die due to not taking their medication because they cannot afford to buy it.  Countries like India offer transplants for just a couple thousand dollars and they provide the best medical care in the world.

The taxes that people pay in the United States are significantly higher than most countries.  Everything is taxes so high that it is difficult to survive.  If you plan on owning a business, don’t hire employees directly because the payroll taxes are high enough it can be debilitating to your business financially and enough to shut you down.  Hire employees through temporary companies who can pay the taxes and worry about comp insurance.  Paying as little taxes as possible is very important for a business because you will have to pay at the end of the year.

The cost of living in many cities in the United States is almost unbelievable.  Many families find they have to live with another family in order to be able to afford a high rent.  Several incomes have to come together to pay one household’s bills.  This causes people to have less living space and to live uncomfortable.  The food prices have continued to rise on a daily basis and wages paid to employees are lowering.  People are having a more difficult surviving on a daily basis.  Economical changes like this are causing crime rates to increase from people out of desperation and things will only get worse.

If you have been spending years dreaming about becoming an American citizen, you might want to do a little more research before you rush over and start a new life.  You might be extremely happy when you return to your home country and hopefully you don’t waste too many years in the states.

When You are Denied American Citizenship

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009 | US Citizenship 101 | Comments Off

Most people want to live the American dream and become a citizen of the United States so they can have the opportunity to start their own business. When the government denies you citizenship there are still things you can do to live the dream.

There are so many people who want to come to the United States because of the opportunity of starting their own business. It may seem impossible to get your own location or come up with the money it takes to start a business. Your government may even prohibit you from starting a company and that is why you want to come to the US. Guess what, you don’t have to go the America to start your own company on the Internet. There are no limitations.

Starting an online business doesn’t require you to be a citizen of the United States. The beauty of the World Wide Web is that it is global. All you need is a computer and a connection to the Internet. You can start your own online business from the comfort of your own home. There is no boundary limitation to an online business and if you want to be an American to do this then you might think again. Plus, the cost of living in the United States is substantially than most other countries. When you work out of the US you can save a lot of money by paying less to live.

All hope is not lost if you are denied citizenship into the US. Another reason you should consider an online business is that you don’t even have to have a product. You can have a retail business selling things like Christmas trees and artificial Christmas trees. It might surprise you how many people purchase artificial Christmas trees when it is not even the holiday.

You shouldn’t be down and out if you are denied citizenship into the United States. Right now, business owners have it much worse than other businesses in a different country. If you still want to start your own business online then you most likely won’t have to pay half of the taxes that an American business does. Americans lose a lot of money when they own a business because the government wants to take so much of the profit.

One of the benefits of a home based business online is that you don’t have to become an American to start one. One thing to keep in mind is that you can make your online business appear to be American if you want to. Some people think that they will make more money if they are based out of the United States. This isn’t the case but you can put a United States address like a post office box for your business. Then all you have to do is forward the mail to where you are located.

Being denied citizenship doesn’t mean that you cannot live the dream of owning your own business one day. Even if you are denied through the government you can still start an online business no matter where you live in the world. Another thing to remember is that you do not need an American education to start your own online business. You might even find the decision of the American government actually was better for you in the long run.

How to Become a Citizen of the United States

Friday, August 8th, 2008 | US Citizenship 101 | Comments Off

There are many factors you must keep in mind if you want to become a citizen of the United States. These factors include age, residency, presence, education, and your knowledge of the history of the United States.

If you want to become a citizen of the United States you can apply through immigration when you become an adult. You must be at least 18 years of age to be able to start the application process to become a citizen.

One of the stipulations of becoming a permanent resident is that you must have been admitted into a lawful permanent resident for at least five years. Three years if you have obtained a Green Card through marrying a permanent resident. This information must be verifiable. You cannot just say you were sleeping in the basement of a bathroom vanity shop.

Of the five year requirement for status in the United States, you must have been physically present in the country for at least half of that time period. If you married a U.S. citizen you must have resided with your spouse for at least half of the three year requirement.

When you want to become a citizen of the United States you must be a good standing citizen with good moral character. This is required for the entire duration of your stay and through the minimum required time frame of three or five years. This means you must not be breaking the law in any way. If you get into trouble with the law for drinking while driving or you commit a felony you may be sent back to your original country. If you are sent back to your country for breaking the law you may ruin your chances for ever becoming a citizen.

You must also have a level of understanding of the basics of the English language. You should have skills in reading, writing, and understanding. You will also be tested on your knowledge of the history of the United States government.

If you meet the above requirements you can apply to become a citizen of the US. If you marry a person who is already a legal resident in the country it can speed up the process but it will not guarantee you become a legal resident. Having wedding rings is not enough to gain citizenship. You will need to reside in the country for a period of time.

Gaining permanent residency into the United States is something many people wish they could do. There is a process you must follow. You must be an adult before you can begin the process. You must not break any laws and you must have a legal residence in the US for up to five years. It is best to gain work and an education so you are accepted. If you are not working or contributing to the economic value of the country you may be denied status. The best way to gain status is by living a good life and being a good person.
